Since we broke ground on November 5, 2025, the team has been acutely aware of the countdown to opening in late 2027. We have about 23 months to realize Wareham Hall’s fullest potential. No pressure!
That timeline is shaping every decision we’re making as a team right now. We’re in the thick of interior design decisions, ops planning, and brand and experience development, all while fundraising continues. Keep reading for the latest news!
A Groundbreaking Moment in History
We’re biased, but our groundbreaking might be the best one Manhattan has ever witnessed. Tears were shed. Glasses were raised. Hammers were swung. Believe it or not, we’re still finding confetti on Poyntz Ave! Thank you to everyone who celebrated this momentous occasion with us—in person or in spirit.

Construction Progress
Our beloved marquee and blade sign were the first major items that were removed when construction started. As of late January, the first floor of the theater has been demolished, and excavation has begun. Additionally, demolition is nearly complete on all four floors of the neighboring building. Everything has been moving quickly and smoothly, and BHS Construction has been a phenomenal partner throughout the process.
We have found some interesting relics of the past in the demolition process. Most notably, tickets to “The Bachelors’ Ball” from March 20, 1896!
Fundraising Update
Thanks to our incredible community, we are now over 90% of the way to our $40 million goal. Whether you give through a one-time or monthly donation, a named seat, a leadership pledge, or a corporate contribution, each gift brings us closer to opening the doors to a world-class space where students, artists, and audiences will come together. There’s a meaningful way for everyone to be part of revitalizing Wareham Hall.
NAME A SEAT CAMPAIGN
We launched our seat naming campaign just before the end of the year, and it’s the most personal way to leave a mark on the theater. Seat naming opportunities are structured across three giving levels, ranging from $1,500 – $,3,500, each tied to plaque placement within specific seating areas of the main hall. Limited quantities available!
CORPORATE GIVING CAMPAIGN
Wareham Hall’s new corporate giving program invites businesses to invest in the project while receiving meaningful recognition and engagement opportunities designed to strengthen relationships with employees, clients, and the community. We’re grateful to early supporters like SPS, AKA, BHS Construction, Landmark National Bank, Outdoor Bank, WTC, Bank of the Flint Hills, Hi-Tech Interiors, MCM, Manko, Bayer Construction, Addair Law, The Trust Company, Charlson & Wilson, and others whose generosity is helping us inch closer to our $40 million goal.
