More than a Symbol
The Wareham is an iconic structure that is beloved by our community, yet it is a dilapidated shell of its former self.
Our $35 million capital campaign will revive this historical icon in the heart of downtown and make Manhattan a place that is recognized, celebrated, and sought after for its thriving arts, cultural, and entertainment offerings.
Why does Manhattan need Wareham Hall?
Only 14% of over 1,000 survey respondents believe that “Manhattan has performances that represent my interests.”
There are currently no performance spaces in Manhattan that can host 400-900 people.
The Kansas State University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance needs suitable performance facilities to expand and improve its programs.
Current residents often have to travel 60+ miles to attend performances.
79% of people who attend arts and cultural events while traveling are 79% more likely to recommend that city as a good place to live.
Communities with strong arts and cultural offerings are more likely to attract and retain young people.
Regions with a strong creative sector are more likely to have higher population growth, employment rates, and household incomes.
Wareham Hall is estimated to:
- Create a $4.6 million economic impact annually
- Host 42,000 patrons annually
- Support 45+ full-time jobs
